Building Bridges Between Cultures, Languages & Generations
SprachCafé Polnisch e.V. is a non-profit association dedicated to intercultural exchange, language learning, and community dialogue across Pankow, Schöneberg, and Köpenick.
We build bridges between cultures, languages, and generations to foster an empathetic, welcoming community – a place where everyone feels at home.
With Polish warmth and an open heart, we host workshops, cultural events, and neighborhood initiatives connecting long-term Berliners, newcomers, and friends from all over the world.

How It All Began…
Our journey began in 2008 at a kindergarten in Berlin-Pankow.
A young girl named Miriam joined the group, and her teacher noticed how difficult it was for her to settle into the unfamiliar environment. Starting fresh in a new place is never easy, especially when surrounding voices speak a language other than one's native tongue. For Polish-speaking Miriam, German felt overwhelming and alien.
Two mothers from the kindergarten, Agata and Marta, immediately recognized that feeling. Their own children were also growing up between different languages. To support Miriam, they began organizing bilingual morning circles in the preschool room: songs, nursery rhymes, storytelling, craft projects, and even cooking together (strawberry pierogi!).
What began with a few informal meetings soon blossomed into something far greater. Children forged lifelong friendships, parents bonded, and a vibrant community emerged. Spontaneously, Agata and Marta created a microcosm of an open, multilingual society.
From that spark, SprachCafé Polnisch was born.
